I was drawn to the unique, architectural shapes of these icebergs—their unexpected curves and spires suggested motion and age and kept pulling me closer. This photograph expresses my ongoing focus on northern wildness and the delicate balance of those habitats, offering a quiet meditation on change and resilience. My shadow can be seen on the ice at the bottom, center of the camera. For me, these images are always a meditation, a reminder that what looks permanent is always changing. That tension between permanence and impermanence is what draws me. There’s a bittersweet edge to that contemplation. Glaciers are beautiful beyond words, but they’re also indicators of the health of our planet. Each sculpted ridge is part of a larger system responding to warming, to shifting weather patterns, to choices we make far beyond these frozen shores. Conservation photography isn’t just about pretty pictures; it’s about opening a door to awareness and action. If this image stirs something in you, consider it an invitation — to learn more, to support local and global conservation efforts, or simply to make one small, meaningful change in your daily life.
